The public is invited to a celebration on January 2 hosted by the Grand Prairie Historical Organization (GPHO) to honor Alexander MacRae Dechman, founder of Grand Prairie.

During New Year’s Eve and the early morning hours of New Year’s Day there is a higher likelihood of impaired drivers on the roadways. Impaired drivers can increase the potential for alcohol related crashes involving injury or death.

2017 in Photos: Wrapping up the Year

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to take a look back at some of the most memorable events and images of 2017.

During a driving thunderstorm in April, firefighters battle a house fire in the 2000 block of Plains Ct. The fire was one of three house fires caused by lightning strikes from the morning storm. The photo has received three gold medals in international photojournalism exhibitions. ©Bob Fitch – 2017
