Dubiski Career High School receives prestigious national honor

The three academies at Grand Prairie ISD’s Dubiski Career High School have been named model career academies by the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC). The three academies: the Academy of Business and Communication, the Academy of Health Science and Engineering, and the Academy of Human Services and Transportation join a prestigious group of only 70 academies nationwide to receive this accolade.

As the only school in Texas with NCAC-designated model career academies, Dubiski becomes a destination site for other districts that wish to observe the school’s sustainable programs and intense focus on business partnerships.

“It is evident that the passion of the school teams, coupled with the support of the school administration, and the intense focus of your business community, has created sustaining programs for students, parents and the community,” wrote Jay Steele, NCAC President in his award letter to the District. “The rigor of the curriculum and the depth of your industry partnerships are to be commended.”

Being named an NCAC model career academy is usually a two to three-year process. Teachers and staff at Dubiski worked diligently to gather the necessary documentation and hosted the NCAC team multiple times to gain the designation in only one year.

Dubiski will be featured on the NCAC website and recognized at their annual conference in Houston in November 2018.
