Dream Weaver Foundation to participate in Global Youth Service Day

Dream Weaver Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Grand Prairie that provides secondary youth with volunteer and service learning opportunities throughout Dallas/Fort Worth, will be participating in Global Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world and the only one that celebrates the contributions that children and youth make 365 days of the year.

Dream Weaver Foundation, founded in 2006, participates in the global event each year, hosting over 200 students and parents as they participate in multiple volunteer activities all under one roof. This year’s activities consist of a backpacking project benefiting homeless students in Grand Prairie, a PB & J project benefiting Salvation Army, a birthday in a bag project benefiting local shelters and many more.

The event will take place at Uplift Grand Preparatory in Grand Prairie on April 21st from 9am until 12pm. Both students and parents are encouraged to attend and can register at http://goo.gl/DWnekG. If you are interested in sponsoring a project or volunteering to help with the overall event, individuals may contact Kim Phipps, Dream Weaver Executive Director, at kphipps@dwfoundation.org.

About Dream Weaver Foundation

Dream Weaver Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Grand Prairie which provides secondary youth with volunteer and service learning opportunities throughout Dallas/Fort Worth. Founded in 2006 by Kim Phipps and Martrina Reed-Holmes to tutor youth displaced by Hurricane Katrina, both former middle school teachers soon recognized the need to engage young people in productive activities during out-of-school time and put their plan for Dream Weaver Foundation in motion soon after Katrina. The mission of Dream Weaver Foundation is to inspire today’s teens to be tomorrow’s leaders with a vision to develop and equip teens with the resources to be successful leaders in their community.
