Severe thunderstorm potential Tuesday-Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said today that widespread thunderstorms would return to North and Central Texas Tuesday and Wednesday. Some strong to severe storms will be possible both days, with the best chances east of the Interstate 35 corridor during the afternoons and evenings.

Hail will be the primary threat, but damaging winds might occur with some of the storms on Wednesday. Along with the severe threat, there will be a potential for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

With abundant moisture in place across the region, any of the storms that form east of I-35 Tuesday and Wednesday will have the potential to produce some localized 1 to 2” rainfall totals over a short period. With the wet soils in place, this intensity of rain could produce renewed ponding on roads and low lying areas, and even some isolated instances of flash flooding along small streams.

Please stay updated on this threat through the middle of the week.
