Wintry mix possible early next week

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said today that there would be a chance of a light wintry mix of precipitation Monday night through Tuesday morning along and south of the Interstate 20 corridor.

Another strong cold front would arrive Monday afternoon followed by the passage of an upper-level disturbance Monday night.

The cold front will enter North Texas Monday afternoon with temperatures falling to near or below freezing Monday night. After the cold air is in place, an upper-level disturbance will move across the region and result in a mix of winter precipitation.

Since the depth of the cold air will be increasing through the night, the precipitation will most likely transition from cold rain to a mix of rain and freezing rain. However, some light snow is also possible.

It appears that the best time for winter precipitation to occur will be late Monday evening through early Tuesday morning.

Continue to monitor the forecast through the weekend for updated details.
