The “Pawlar Express” to deliver adopted animals to new homes on Christmas

Adopters can make Christmas more magical this year by having the newly adopted pet delivered to their door on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day by Santa’s elves! On Friday, Dec. 22 and Saturday, Dec. 23, people are invited to visit Prairie Paws Adoption Center, 2222 W. Warrior Trl., to meet with adoptable animals. Animals with the special “Pawlar Express” train ticket on their kennels are eligible to be delivered to their new “furever” homes on the “Pawlar Express.”

Once an adopter chooses a pet, the normal adoption process will follow, but if the adopter chooses, instead of taking the pet home at the time of adoption, Santa’s elves will deliver the pet to the new home! The “Pawlar Express” will be making deliveries between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. and noon on Christmas Day to homes in Grand Prairie.

Though there are many adorable cats and dogs that need new homes, Santa and his elves are pretty busy this time of year so deliveries are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Deliveries will only be made within Grand Prairie city limits. Adoption fees are $70. There is no extra cost to have the pet delivered, though donations are welcome.

Animals must already be spayed or neutered to ride the Pawlar Express. Animals will be vaccinated and microchipped prior to arrival.

The Prairie Paws Animal Shelter’s regular operating hours are:

Tuesday-Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday: Noon – 6 p.m.
Closed Sunday and Monday
