Inaugural Pioneer Day celebration opens Grand Prairie Museum

The Grand Prairie Historical Organization hosted its inaugural Pioneer Day celebration on Saturday to open the new Grand Prairie Museum.

The museum located inside the Historical Organization’s office, 1516 West Main, has many artifacts, documents and historical photos and information about Grand Prairie. The museum takes up several rooms in the building, each with a theme.

There is a room for the aviation industry, armed forces, schools and the Ruthe Jackson room to honor the late Mayor Pro Tem who was so instrumental in the preservation of Grand Prairie history.

Pioneer Day celebration featured food, games, music and folk arts and crafts.
