Thousands packed Central Park Saturday for one of the city’s largest events, the annual Flight of the Monarch celebration.

The free, day long event to celebrate the annual migration of the monarch butterfly from North America to Central Mexico featured: three butterfly releases, children’s activities, and live music. There was over 70 vendors offering services, products and plenty of carnival type food and drinks.

“Flight of the Monarch is a beautiful celebration of nature that attracts thousands of visitors each year,” said Mae Smith, event coordinator. “Many North Texas families count it among their most favorite fall traditions.”
