Arts Council annual juried art show opens at Uptown Theater

The Grand Prairie Arts Council opened its annual Juried Art Show & Sale Sunday at the Uptown Theater.

Arts Council Executive Director Libby Clawson said more than one hundred pieces of art from forty-two artists were accepted in this year’s show. The artist were from seventeen different cities around the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Clawson said more than $3 thousand was given in awards to winners in eight classes.

The artwork will be on display in the lobby of the Uptown Theater until October 21. Clawson said many of the pieces are for sale. She said this is an excellent opportunity for the public to purchase some beautiful art.

  • Watercolor – Mary Jo Jung, Seattle Underground
  • Acrylic – Justin Simmons, Peter Denial
  • Drawing – Teresa Foster, Sponge Bob Grannies
  • Photography – Jeff Mize, State Fair
  • Mixed Media – Heidi Tournoux, Grand Canyon
  • Digital – Cathy Stein, Aliens Have Landed
  • Wildcard – Chanell Harris, Seeing Music
