Alcohol believed factor in I-30 crash that kills three

Grand Prairie police believe alcohol is a factor in the Friday night traffic crash on Interstate 30 that killed one woman and two children.

The collision occurred around 9:10 pm on westbound Interstate 30 at the Belt Line Road exit.

Police said Demitiri Gomez, 26, of Irving, was driving a 2006 Honda at a high speed when he lost control of the car at the Belt Line exit ramp. The car rotated sideways and entered the median between the off ramp and the freeway, colliding with a concrete light pole base.

Monica Lopez, 29, of Irving died at the scene of the crash. Alexxia Gomez, 4, and Armani Gomez, 3, were transported by GPFD ambulances to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where both died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Demitri Gomez was taken by ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

This is the 9th fatal collision in Grand Prairie this year.
