Dragon Boat Festival returns for fourth year on June 10 at Joe Pool Lake

The Grand Prairie Dragon Boat Festival, sponsored by the Grand Prairie ISD Career and Technical Education Board in cooperation with the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event benefit the Grand Prairie ISD Career Technical Education Scholarship fund, which offers support for books, tuition and other fees for GPISD students who participate in CTE classes in high school and go on to attend college or trade school.

The Dragon Boat Festival pits local and regional teams of up to 25 paddlers rowing traditional Chinese boats in a series of competitive heats on a 300 meter, fully-buoyed race course on beautiful Joe Pool Lake.

The day long event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake. (3401 Ragland Road). Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities, which include a BBQ Cook-Off, and $1-entry competitive games open to spectators. A $10 per-car entry fee to the park will be charged to all vehicles.
