New Walmart Supercenter on Highway 161 opens

A new Walmart Supercenter opened at 2650 S Highway 161 in Grand Prairie on Wednesday morning bringing a broad assortment of fresh groceries and general merchandise at everyday low prices, a full-service pharmacy, fuel station and more.

Store Manager Brandy Magaña, who is from Grand Prairie and began her career with Walmart as an hourly associate, said the new store employs over 300 associates with 85 percent being new hires bringing many new jobs to Grand Prairie.

The store also made a $2,000 donation to South Grand Prairie High School and $500 donation to Grand Prairie United Charities.

The new 187,000 square foot Walmart Supercenter features fresh produce and organic selections; a full-service deli and in-store bakery offering personalized cakes, fresh-baked breads; a full grocery department with favorite name-brand products. In addition, customers will find a convenient, full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru, health and beauty items, baby and pet supplies, and select household goods.

New also is a comfortable waiting room with plush chairs for customers to wait for their online pick up orders.

The store is open from 6 am to midnight, seven days a week.
