Grand Prairie United Charities receives generous donation
Debra Blubaugh, Executive Director of Grand Prairie United Charities (GPUC), announced today that the non-profit organization recently received a generous donation from the Walmart Foundation and the Texas State Giving Advisory Council. Blubaugh did not release the amount of the donation.
The money, she said, will be used to purchase new food storage freezers, supplies and addition food to help Grand Prairie families in need.
The donation was made in part for the work the organization did in May to shelter flood victims evacuated from the Willow Bend Mobile Home Park and the Fox Hollow apartments.
Grand Prairie United Charities was founded in 1955 to meet the emergency needs of Grand Prairie residents who are experiencing financial setbacks. GPUC believes that prompt intervention in the form of emergency assistance can ward off a potential crisis and prevent the family or individual from being without shelter, food or utilities.
